The day I had to crack out a thermal top to do a workout in my own living room was the day I realised the time for warm weather had come to its end for 2018.
And that, my friends, was a sad day.
As somebody who's “it's too bloody cold” record is stuck on repeat until March (and April I won't lie) the coming of Autumn has never really resonated well with me.
However, despite the fact that I'm always left in denial about how I can no longer go out without tights or the danger of going braless (hello Rachel moment!), I've been trying out a more positive mindset. I've been thinking about all the things I'm excited about and will be grateful for this season. Aside from our world turning to glorious shades of reds and golds and my favourite holiday, Halloween of course.
#1 The Crisp Sunny Days
With the colours of the leaves and the low golden sun, everything looks stunning at this time of year. One of my favourite things to do is walk through the woods near my house along one of the trails. There's a warm glow that is cast over everything and, as a photographer, I'm literally living for it! The abundance of animals getting ready for winter also makes for some adorable sightings.

#2 The Outfits
All the layers! As someone who lives for summer, I do have a pretty hefty collection of jumpers and ankle boots. I always find myself wanting to try new styles and pieces at this time of year and I'm a lot more experimental with my style. Plus, who doesn't love the moment you dust off your favourite coat. It doesn't suit my bank account, but it most definitely suits me fine!
#3 Cosy Nights In
Give me fuzzy blankets and hot chocolate any day. With the nights becoming longer, I'm really looking forward to cosy nights nestled on my bed watching TV. I've yet to find a job that allows me to do this for money so if anyone knows of one, hook me up!
#4 The Lead Up To Christmas
I can say this now because Halloween is over, but I'm always a sucker for the lead up to Christmas. When all of the decadent festive foods adorn the shelves and twinkly lights are everywhere. I even quite enjoy present shopping. This year I'm crossing a line off my bucket list and seeing Wicked (eep!).
#5 Dogs In Coats
Because as I'm sitting here writing this at least three dogs have walked past in them and it's the cutest thing!
