A Brief Weekend Getaway
Why hello there October! When did you come around so suddenly? I honestly can't believe we're already into the official first week of Autumn. Which means only one thing, it's almost Halloween! But until my favourite time of year roles around, I've been keeping myself fairly busy. This weekend will be the first where I will actually be staying at home before I'm off again. So when I got the opportunity to accompany a friend on a press trip to Thoresby Hall Hotel and Spa, I couldn't say no.
Thoresby Hall is a Victorian stately home turned hotel and spa situated near Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire. Part of the Warner Leisure group, the hotel's usual guests tend to be more mature, however, that doesn't mean we were disappointed. With my friend working for a 50+ online publication, she was sent there to review the facilities, entertainment and general atmosphere of the place. I was just lucky enough to be along for the ride. However, it occurred to me that I could take real advantage of this trip blog wise.
The original hall is still in tact and houses beautiful era themed room and a modern meets Victorian dining hall which served us an amazing dinner and breakfast during our stay. So I'm not going to lie, I had to take some foodie shots (especially of the glorious Bailey's cheesecake). On the Saturday we enjoyed a walk around the grounds and a dip in the pool before heading to the stage area for some live entertainment. Being aimed at the more mature audience, we were rather skeptical of what we were in for. However, we couldn't have been more wrong. I think we partied harder than some of our student nights. We also enjoyed some live entertainment from the band performing for the 60s themed night and a cool bottle of prosecco. On a rather sleepy Sunday, we enjoyed a chilled out session in the spa, utilising all of the facilities from the hydro pool to an ice cave. We finished the weekend off with a long walk around the grounds before heading back to the train station. Providing the perfect relaxing end to a chilled out and fun weekend getaway.
